virus, virus, everywhere!

The "anti virus" pop-up keeps popping up each time I click my mouse. Very threatening message that I must download its antispyware to avoid total crash of my PC! I fell for it the first time and got into problem. The downloading refused to stop and I was told by my daughter I got Trojan, whatever that is; sounds very threatening. Eversince, my computer speed has been affected. Now it comes again and I click "cancell" but it pops up again and again. I'm sure with one small error I might click the "OK" button and I had it again. Must consult some experts on this. Perhaps my Sifu Chew can help.
By the way, this virus seems to mutate into human virus. I just went to see my doctor about my painful throat which began about the same time of this stupid computer virus. He gave me some pain-killer and antibiotics. I asked him whether he got any prescription for my computer virus. He told me to just shut it off; and no more problem! Never thought of that! No wonder he is so clever to be a doctor!
Have a healthy day!

Frankenstein's Monster

Frankenstein's monster, originally uploaded by luckywhitegirl.

Unbelievable, a 73-year-old Austrian locking his daughter in a windowless cellar for 24 years and fathering her seven children, without anyone knowing it. Apparently, his wife is living with him. So many questions are yet to be answered.

Are we to believe that the wife living with him in the same house did not know anything about his despicable secrets for 24 long years?

You mean the children never cried out loud, or that the secret basement is 100% sound proof that even toilet flushes are muffled?

What about the telltale signs of clothings, and foodscraps?

What about ventilation and insulation?

We are not talking about 24 months, but 24 YEARS!!

Incredible, I simply cannot believe it .

Emperor of India?

"Britain's Queen Victoria" (Frontispiece) - 1901 - by Thomas Paul.
Today is April 28; the day in 1876 when Queen Victoria was declared Empress of India. In today's political jargon, it would be termed as unilateral declaration contravening the UN Charter. I wonder whether the Indians welcome the event with open arms (pun intended). How about an apology? Fat hope!

Ai Yah! Sori-lah!

Ai Yah Sori-lah!!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/wosog/196241784/

The Sunday Star said on page F27 : "It takes a big man to apologise". I think it has unwittingly omitted two important words.."on time". "It takes a big man to apologise on time." Hmmm ...sounds better! Our friend may not have missed the boat this time, but unfortunately it's taking him to Timbuktu. Good-bye, Sayur na na!!

Say Sorry

Recently, people have been demanding the wrong-doers to apologise for their past misdeeds and injustices done to others.
This watermelon appeared very angry as a result of someone carving it. You know, about 150 years ago the Europeans, starting from the British, began carving out China like no body's business. Just like the watermelon. Strangely, the Chinese never brought up the subject of an apology from these belligerent nations!

Come look at the mirror

Hmmm. This place has been very quiet. Maybe one or two visitors a day! Never mind, blogging here is much better than just looking at the mirror, or is it?
I received this story through email. I think I have read it quite some time ago. This time I almost passed it on without reading; but somehow a funny feeling told me that I must read it.
The message is haunting, and I feel like having received a tight slap on my face. Here it is:
[The world is like a mirror..
One day all the employees reached the office and they saw a big advice on the door on which it was written:'Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company passed away.
We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been prepared in the gym'.In the beginning, they all got sad for the death of one of their colleagues, but after a while they started getting curious to know who was that man who hindered the growth of his colleagues and the company itself. The excitement in the gym was such that security agents were ordered to control the crowd within the room. The more people reached the coffin, the more the excitement heated up.Everyone thought: 'Who is this guy who was hindering my progress?

Well, at least he died!'.One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless. They stood nearby the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest partof their soul. There was a mirror inside the coffin: everyone who looked inside it could see himself. There was also a sign next to the mirror that said: 'There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU.You are the only person who can revolutionize your life. You are the only person who can influence your happiness, your realization and your success.

You are the only person who can help yourself.Your life does not change when your boss changes, when your friends change, when your parents change, when your partner changes, when your company changes. Your life changes when YOU change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs, when you realise that you are the only one responsible for your life.'The most important relationship you can have, is the one you have with yourself'Examine yourself, watch yourself. Don't be afraid of difficulties, impossibilities and losses: be a winner, build yourself and your reality.

The world is like a mirror: it gives back to anyone the reflection of the thoughts in which one has strongly believed. The world and your reality are like mirrors laying in a coffin, which show to any individual the death of his divine capability to imagine and create his happiness and his success.

It's the way YOU face Life that makes the difference. Have a nice day!]
And a Reflective one, too.

Bullock Carts

Bullock Carts, originally uploaded by Harshad Sharma.

Yesterday, no more bridge. Toady no more bullet train. Actually we don't really need bullet train from KL to Singapore. We need real fast transport from JB to Singapore; that's all. Come to think of it, it may be a good idea if we could use existing railway tracks for convoys of bullock carts plying from KL to JB, and also to Penang!! That way it will be very safe for the poor commuters who have to risk their lives in the hellish buses. Also save petrol, save road maintenance, save the world, and most important save lives!!

One bridge too many

One bridge plus one bridge equals two bridges. Two bridges minus one bridge equals one bridge. One completed bridge plus one bridge on paper equals one bridge. Therefore, two bridges minus one bridge equals one completed bridge plus one bridge on paper!!
That's some statistics for your reckoning. The PM just announced that there would be no second bridge. Or was it just a "temporary" delay? It is most appropriately timed, because today is Earth Day. We are supposed to save Mother Earth, and this year's theme is "Water". What a better way to save Mother Earth. No more dredging, no more piling, no more concreting, no more polluting, no more cars!! Thank you Mr Prime Minister!! Check this out @ http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/04/22/business/AS-FIN-Malaysia-Projects-Postponed.php

The elixir of life

http://www.flickr.com/photos/starlisa/867841333/
Water, the elixir of life. Can anyone manufacture water? Can anyone produce water? How come we have to pay for water? If they have not blocked the rivers and dammed the flow, then we will have free water from the free-flowing streams and rivers!! News that they are going to increase water rates so that you and I will not waste water. Put it the other way; because you and I always waste water, we must now be punished to pay more for being uncivilized, that is not being civil. Let's boycott them, don't drink water for a week, and they will come begging us for forgiveness! I mean don't drink tap water. We can always rely on nature...rain. Or can we?

Who said Penang needs a Disneyland to woo tourists? I think this would be the last thing Penang wants to have. Just keep the island clean. Let the pearl shine again!

Very appropriate for Black and White. What do you see? Giraffe? Snake skin? Leopard? Great wall of China? Cobweb? Blister wrapper? Parched earth somewhere in Africa? Don't know? Good question.

What a relief!!

Wah! What a relief! After giving my PC a breather, I tried again to upload the picture from my PC and wallah! here it is.. beautiful sunset! Time to take a stroll along the beach to feel the cool water tickling my toes. Cooool down and maintain mindfulness after a hectic cyber misadventure! Relax!

Headache

Headache, originally uploaded by fabbriciuse.

Aiyoh! Headache! Headache! Headache!

The downfall of a beginner blogger and an internet idiot. That's me. How I wish there is an internet wizard beside me. First, it was the viruses, and right now I think my PC is affected even after my daughter had "fixed" the virus problem. I can't upload picture from my PC to this blog due to "internal problem" so said the programme. And then the new gmail account refused to send my messages. And I wasted quite some time trying to unsubscribe but could not find the Button. Just had to create another gmail a/c.

Yesterday, tried to venture into the unknown and got caught again. I just couldn't fit the picture into the background of the Header of this blog. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!

Prisoners of the world

There is no where to escape. We are all encased in this very minute sphere in the vast universe of unending space. Can't you see? Can't you see? Your life span is just a flicker of an eye blink, considering the awesome time scale of the universe. Do we still have time to waste on trivial irritations? Or is better to wise-up our life-style to pursue beneficial undertakings?

Have a fruitful day!

Actually, it came from the article by Bakri Musa @ http://www.bakrimusa.com/ but the post is not there yet. I wonder how Uncle Lim did it.

Don't the specs remind you of someone very important in Malaysia?

Solitary reflection

When time stops. When movement stops. No more disturbances. Everthing is bright and clear. Every detail is reflected. Every thought is noted. The whole picture becomes clear. When the mind is stable, with equanimity, alert; every thought is reflected in its true nature. The mind will be as clear as the placid waters.

A Ray Of Hope

Heard of Estrada? Of course, Joseph Estrada the 13th President of the Philippines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Estrada). But not him I am talking about. I am referring to honest Eli Estrada, the one who found US$140,000 on the street and returned them!! A ray of hope for humanity! Would you have done the same? I am sure you would....???

Have a Lucky Day!!

If you want to eat me, you better be a cat!

The message below has been in circulation for quite some time. Better to be a cat if fish is your favourite!! You get it for free.

"Last week, I brought my guests to Genting Highlands. After a day 'above the clouds', we decided to have dinner at the Gohtong Jaya area on the way down. We ordered some dishes and decided to have a steamed fish as well. So the captain recommended 'sultan fish'. The steamed fish came. HALF, and plain steamed. Good & fine. But when the bill came, it came to over $500 !! We were shocked !! We were told the fish was 1.4kg ( & please bear in mind, its ONLY HALF A FISH ) at RM 320 per kg! RM 420!! This was daylight robbery. We were not informed by the Captain that a kg of the Sultan fish would cost us RM 320 and there was also no signs of such pricings anywhere in the restaurant. When we checked with the cashier, she told us, its correct !! Of cos, it was our mistake for not asking the price first. Anyway, on the way back to KL, we stopped at Unique Seafood,PJ, where one can choose a live fish. The most expensive Soon Hock swimming in the tank is RM135 per kilo. Asked them about the Sultan fish, it is going for RM100 a kilo. Will be sending this letter to the newspapers, Tourism board, etc etc; and friends, pls pass on to all on yr email list. CHEATED. (find the receipt below)
Note: Make it a habit to ask for the fish price before you order anytime as many restaurant like to skip the pricing."

I can't resist close-up

0366 Primavera, originally uploaded by QuimG.

I like taking close-ups. It's the concentration on minute details. The mind is always focused on the object. The connection is complete when you release the shutter! It is a very personal feeling that "I've done it!" And when the image comes out perfect, there is a sense of achievement. This exercise you can do it on your own. No one to disturb your concentration. Just like meditation. You see every detail in life!

Carve out your life

Fruit and vege carving is a very fascinating and painstaking art. You will need a lot of patience and deft fingers. It certainly takes a lot of practice to master the skill. Visit any such demonstration and you will discover how a plain ball of watermelon being turned into an exquisite and colourful presentation of different hues. Just like life itself; if left untouched it is just like the plain old watermelon, with all the hidden qualities and potentials inside. We need the skill to carve out our outer layers to reveal all our splendour. Do we ever think of how to reveal our hidden potential? Don't always show the plain uninteresting wall paper. Tear it up and reveal the beautiful landscape beyond the open windows. Free ourselves of impeding negative and fearful obstacles. Fly like a soaring falcon. Take a challenge, do something rewarding, help others or help yourself to be healthy and contented. Have a Happy Day!

Art of creation

We are all given more or less the same ingredients in life. For the mediocre, the ingredients will be messed up into unpalatable chunks. As for the discerning sculptor, life becomes an art for the creation of his imagination. It is up to you: to be a creative artist or a nondescript scribbler!

Have an Imaginative Day!

Smile

Smile
[By N. Komalah (form 5) Pure Life Home for Children]
Smile,
It is not a word,
or action but
a gift from the heart
A smile can
change you and me
and the community.
Smile,
It's free to give,
but when received
it is priceless.
A Smile can melt
someone's heart
and yours too.
Smile,
Brings joy
even though we are sad
Smile can make you
forget your troubles
and give a jump-start
to face life again.
Smile,
It's a gift
that makes someone feel,
that someone is there for me.
No matter even if you are
young or old
Smile can connect everyone.
Smile,
Reflects happiness.
It shows love,
for one another.
It is a long lasting feeling
that lives in you
FOREVER.
Smile,
can even give someone
hope to cope
in anything.
It makes us feel calm.
So smile, smile, smile
to chase anger away.
Smile,
It makes us feel loved,
makes us feel cared for,
it can change
someone's attitude.
And build friendship
the way to peace.
Smile,
It brings a cheer
in someone's heart.
A smile is precious
for you, me and to all.
So cherish it
and give it with compassion.

pretty colours

pretty colours, originally uploaded by twoHands.

Can one say which is the prettiest? When everywhere is perfection, everything is equally pretty in its own unique way.

What are you afraid of?

I have a phobia of lizards. By just typing the dreaded word gives me goose pimples!! More about this story of my life later. But right now, more urgent business to attend to. SNAKES!!
We grown ups are just like little children, fear of lizards, fear of cockcroaches, fear of our own shadows, and my darkest secret, fear of being alone at night!! It's time we grow up and be like the child with his little worm!! Hisssss!!

What do you think of this?

This picture is from India. You would most probably know this famous rat temple which has been featured in the news media many times. This world is full of controversies. Many sensitive issues have been blown out of context costing damages in properties and innocent lives.
Why not just ask ourselves only 3 questions whenever we want to act on something sensitive.
1. Is the action harmful to me?
2. Is the action harmful to others?
3. Is the action beneficial?
Then we can decide on our action. Don't you think this is a wise approach? We can control our own actions. As for others, it is their freedom of choice to live their lives the way they choose .
Live and let live!!
Have a nice day:-)

If it's a flood, wouldn't you complain?

Just imagine that you are caught in a flood while having your lunch. How would you feel? You will be complaining. It's attitude, don't you think so? The mind can lead us to whichever way we want to think. With an untrained mind, we become its slaves dragging us to obey to its whims and fancies. However if we can train this mind to obey our instructions, then we become their masters. Some call it assertiveness; others mind control. It is being mindful of the present moment that makes us different from animals which act on instinct.
Someone asked: "What is this human being?" The answer : "Body and mind."
What is mind? No body.
What is body? Never mind!!
Have a mindful day!! :-)

On-top-of-the-world feeling

It is very refreshing to encounter new experiences, like learning new tricks each day, through blogging. The mantra is in the air:

On-top-of-the-world feeling is my way
Not only this makes sense
Even the Sun is in my hands"

Have a sunny day!!

A rose is not for a fool

To-day is April Fool's Day. So be careful if you received a fragrant rose, especially red in colour. It may just be a scarlet deception.
Roses are a clear favourite for most people. I like them mainly for their fragrance; and also reminds me of my youthful days in university where I would place one in a beautiful Chianti bottle. Chianti is Italy's most famous red wine, which takes its name from a traditional region of Tuscany where it is produced.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chianti
