Mao's Birthday

To-day 26 December is Mao Zedong' birthday.

The life story of Mao is the history of modern China.

What China is today was the result of this man. The charisma of Mao fitted his physical stature. He posed an impressive figure, tall and handsome. I shall post one of his most outstanding pictures once I found it. This picture depicts a tall and handsome Mao
wearing a long gown strikingly standing against the wind holding a closed Chinese umbrella looking ahead with missionary zeal. This photo was apparently mistaken as depicting a charismatic Chinese Catholic missionary that it was hung at one of the Churches in Vatican City until someone pointed out the true identity of the photo.

(Updated: 26 Dec : Below is the photo )

Of course, even today, it's not very expedient politically in the "free" world to praise Mao.

So I better stop here.

But before I go, Mao's opening sentence in his historic declaration on 1 October 1949 at Tiananmen Square, marked the beginning of a New China:
"Today, the Chinese People have stood up!"
That summed up Mao's struggle to bring dignity and respect back for China.

Three books in English I would like to recommend:

"The Red Star Over China" by Edgar Snow. Snow was in China at that time as a journalist and his was the first authoritative account on the Communist Party Of China. This book pricked the conscience of the Western aggressors and imperialists.
(I have not read this book yet.)

"The Morning Deluge" by Han Suyin
This book is a semi-biography of Mao, and the political developments of modern China after Sun Yat Sen's era.

"The Private Life Of Chairman Mao" by Dr. Li Zhisui
Dr Li was Mao's personal physician up to his death. This book can be regarded as the continuation of Mao's life story after that of Han Suyin's book.
(I think this book is still banned in China.)

Well for those not bothered to know more, the click here: Wikipedia.

I have read all 3 books and few more and love reading Dr. Li's version...3 times!!
I cannot help laughing so much.
Had Mao was alive..he wrote that...he will surely be beheaded.
Yes..the more you read of this great man...the more you understand why we are sick of UMNO..so call Nation building.
Bottom line...that's a true nation builder...on conditions and situations...far worst than anyone can imagine...yet succeeded.
In that sense....I am proud of my roots..but have no loyalty whatsoever to project I am a Chinese.
I am a pure Malaysian.
Visiting China to enjoy the country...never for once I feel I was back....like on a pilgrimage. I miss my country whenever I am away.

Without him, China will not free from Kuomintang corrupted rule. His long march managed to unite enough number of peasants to raise arms against Chang Kai-Seik mighty army and overthrow his corrupt regime , after that, united all Chinese under communist banner and lead them into poverty until the arrival of the little man "Teng". Such a great man for all Chinese!

Actually demonizing USA for its liberty and equality idea is such a brilliant political strategy in China and Malaysia now, it not only can divert politician failed policy and governance in the countries, it also can glorify their perverted religion doctrine and political system.

Bow,

As I said, your depth and breadth of general knowledge belie your youthful age!

I hope you mean "perverted religious misinterpretation/manipulation", otherwise I would need to delete that comment of yours.

Monsterball,

Maybe one day you can lend me Edgar Snow's book.

monsterball said...

Most welcome.
But the latest by Jun Chang and Jon Halliday are out to prove Mao is a tyrant..a ruthless cruel dictator.
I knew that when I read some from newspapers.......long ago but decide to buy...to read as much about Mao...from all types of writers.
Edgar Snow live in China and loved by all. I think he was the first to pen out about Mao...and few books about China.
Having said all....Mao consider himself an animal..and said he is a Tiger and swim at sea with shit floating around...no problem.
Leaving the famous virgin stuffs he likes..and so did Mahatma Gandhi...true or false...no one knows....but I certainly do not believe Gandhi love to have sex with young virgin girls only.
That man is simply too holy.
Mao is the one and only man...who declared he was brought up by strict Buddhist parents....was a Buddhist...and then chased all monks out to dig roads....dig shit holes..and the..burnt up..not less than a thousand Buddhist temples in China.
That act....clearly shows....religion will be out from politics...and one need to see how monks programmed those poor uneducated Chinese..to slog and earn...and donate..to temple..first duty...so much so...all go hungry...monks grow fat..enjoy life and even free sex to so call free evil spirits.
Christians and Muslims politicians mix religions into politics....with Malaysia ...UMNO copying so.
UMNO actually never had any original ideas...all copy from elsewhere...starting with our National flag.
I keep imagining and laughing...they like copying game shows...like "wheel of fortune"...and why not.."are you smarter than the 5th grade student?"
Why not that?
You see our standards of education.. are so so low...and it will be too shameful....if Muslim adults cannot give right answers..to simple questions.
US show is about knowledge and intelligence. Ours will be about race and stupid kindergarden stuffs.
OK...from books..authors..of Mao..to UMNO...to religions..and education...got to rest .

Justin...I gave lots of books away to few bloggers.
You are most welcome to keep my Edgar Snow and any other books you one.
If you come down to K.L and view my books...you need a big bag...and that tip will be worth it...I assure you.
Getting old...got to let go..and pass on and I can see.....all my children have different interests...certainly not on books.
When my father died...all my brothers and sister also don't care about books.
He had his own taste too...and I just grab the Groucho Marx book.
You will laugh from first page to the end......never ceased to use foul language in ever sentence he uttered.
But if circumstances cannot permit you to come .....when I am in Penang....I will bring you some books.
My biggest problem for past few months...is searching for another maid..which I cannot afford..as they are very expensive to employ now.
I usually is overseas...during such long holidays....mostly to jungle towns..villages of Indonesia.
I simply love the cheap good food..clean air and those loving people....mostly farmers and self employed..doing anything and everything...never beg in streets for money at all...but you see them in Jakarta...which I never like to stay. Just fly there..catch next connecting local plane...or take a taxi..off I leave Jakarta.
I hope....next year..I can find someone to look after my 9 dogs .two turtles ..two fish tanks..and flower garden for few days...for me to travel peacefully.
I am inviting one daughter.....to lunch and dinner with me today..to bribe her to help me....hahahahahahaha

Was it Han Suyin first book about Mao?

monsterball said...

If I recall..Edgar Snow book is with lots of photos...right?

Justin Choo said...

Monsterball,

Thanks for the offer. I shall remember to see you if I go to KL.

Dr Han Suyin wrote mostly novels with China as the backdrop. The most famous is "Love is a many splendored thing" which was made into film. But The Morning Deluge provides a very comprehensive info on the political development relating to Mao's life.

I have no opportunity to view Edgar Snow's book. Since you have it, you should know.

monsterball said...

Yes Han's.."Love is a many splendored thing"....most famous words she spoke.."Do not disturb a sleeping tiger"..to Mark...I can never forget that....but I know she wrote a book about China and was banned here.
I bought it...from "under table".
Like I said...bring a big empty bag...take some home....as my gifts to you.
Justin...where did you buy the book...on Mao by Dr. Li?
I gave mine away to a friend..after reading 3 times...went to so many book shops...cannot find another copy.
You see..when I have the urge to read it again..I go search for the same book......hahahahaha

monsterball said...

There are so many books i bought...have not read yet.
I spent a good amount of years...reading Chinese history......so difficult to understand..bought comic books...understand a little more..then the videos...with English subtitles...completely understand...especially.."The three Kingdom"
Went to China...bought so many easy reading books on so many China's history.

Justin Choo said...

Monsterball,

I bought Dr Li's book from mail order. I'm sure you can buy from Amazon.com.

I read the 3 classics in English:

Dream Of Red Chamber, Outlaws of the marches, and The Three Kingdom.

I watched a lot of "propaganda" films direct from China during the 70's when I was in NZ as a student. The NZ-China Society was the source.

The most impressive documentary film was one on the Oct 1 Parade at Tiananmen Square. with Mao standing at the "veranda" on top of the Gate. The march pass was so charged with emotion that tears fell from the participants as well as from the audience who watched the film. There was no music for the march pass, only the chanting bestowing Mao and the rhythmic sound of the steps of the march.

I think today you can only witness such spectacle in North Korea.

monsterball said...

Please give me details on Amazon..full address ...forgot the book complete name.
I will write to them and buy one more.

monsterball said...

Dreams of the Red Chamber was considered x rated stuffs...55 years ago...just like "Lady Chaderly's lovers".
I have all those in videos and books..and find I view the videos...skipped the book.
Same as "All men are brothers.."water margin"..fight fight fight...no meaning to me..sort of continuations of..."the three Kingdom".
But i have comic books and easy reading ..on the history of China...the full list of all emperors..up to Puyi....how Chinese writings were formed....Life and times of the first emperor...great wall of china...so much so....actually quite dull.
Best is what you like best and at that time of moods and a book written by any comedian...like Groucho and ???[that black American....forgot his name...face so clear in my mind} never fail to cheer me up.
Good night!

Monsterball,

Go here:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b_1_14?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=the+private+life+of+chairman+mao&sprefix=the+private+li

But please don't ask me how to buy bec I never done before.

bow said...

That is right Justin! Misinterpretation or misquote of holy books from all the great religions for self serving political goal, effectively hijack religions.

monsterball said...

By the way...your last picture showing Mao walking.
That was considered the real masterpiece and original sold for millions!
The painter is filthy rich and famous.

monsterball said...

So you bought through mail order.
This means there is a address..right?...but never mind..not important.
Lets move on.

monsterball said...

I cannot click to that Amozon site you posted....just to let you know....and if I can.....I do not use internet mails at all.
I prefer the old style...write ..to avoid so many junk mails.

About Me of ‘Serendipity Hopeful’,

"When I was young, self-assurance and self-confidence were quite characteristic of my behavior. These two qualities managed to trick me to believe that I was ‘infallible and invincible’. No one checked me, or to be more truthful, I resisted any attempt to check me. I was oblivious to the feelings and reactions I created in others. This turned me into an obnoxious person whose ‘cockiness’ was evident to all and sundry but myself. So now, you have an idea what sort of a person I was. But as age catches up, these same two qualities seem to lose its strong grip, and I come to realize I am not the ‘mister-know-all’, after all. Reality has started to set in.

I am presently at this stage in life where being wise is more important than being right. I now seek self-improvement and I hope to make changes fast so that I can find happiness and joy.

I wish to share this happiness with others through this blog. It is my hope that through this blog serendipity can play its mysterious magic and bring the `unasked-for’ goodies to us all.

But how can I be wise if feedback is not forthcoming. It is through feedback that I will realize if my views, opinions and assumptions hold water. So keep them feedback coming in!

May you be happy.”
_______________

Am I too late to find this marvelous blog? I hope not.

The word ‘obnoxious’ caught my attention. Perhaps we should look at ourselves whether we fit in well with this description of ‘obnoxious’, and have a new resolution for the new year of 2009.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

When you read and paste or copy messages from others...you can never be a sincere truthful man.
Just write and be boastful.
And if you are real smart...worst still...you can be a real two timers...son of a gun..so dangerous to unification objectives..by Malaysians.

May all the bullshitters stop bullshitting in 2009.
I have seen it all.
I can smell them ...miles away!!
No one owes no one anything...yet..to teach and be insulted..to guide and be treated like a fool???
So...bottom line...you are what you are...and only oneself ... can change for the better or continue to play act..bullshit...who cares!
There are always sick minds...selfish cunning minds.. greedy fellas...selfish smart alexes...that will also vote for change of government.
They sway where the wind blows...to save themselves.
Wind of change is so strong and real.
Therefore...my mission will continue to expose...provoke..insult...all two timers..be it ...they have change or not..or want to change for the better.
Yes...I am a smart and knowledegable man...recognized long before bloggers know me...but it is in blogging I took all unfair insults...as a faceless and nameless place to talk....mostly ..not real people.
But in politics..it is serious stuffs
For the sake of the new 2 millions voters...I will expose all without fear.
From blogging..I have found so many friends and few are dear to me.
One of the is Justin Choo...which I instantly like him...the day I met him...so humble...so truthful.
Now he invites me to stay at his blog...to be happy.
Thank you very much!
