The Chant of Metta : Imee Ooi

(If video does not appear, just click on the screen)
I made a comment in another blog recommending the "Chant of Metta" beautifully rendered by the talented Imee Ooi.  After all these years I am surprised that I did not post it in my blog.  This is a Buddhist  Hymn.  The music is very soothing and the lyrics are from the Buddhist text.  The message is actually very universal.

However, if you have any reservation about this Youtube video, please skip this post.

Do animals have conscience and compassion?

Have you ever wondered whether animals have conscience and compassion?  They have to kill to survive.  They don't kill out of hatred or revenge.  Watch this National Geographic Youtube presentation to find out what I am writing about.

It's about a leopard and a baby baboon.  The end result may not be like a fairy tale, but the sequence of events unfolding leads us to ponder whether animals have an instinctive conscience.

Happy Wesak

Today, Tuesday May 17, is Wesak Day. The thrice blessed day when the Buddha was born, gained enlightenment and finally passed into Nibbana.

The Buddha is dead and gone. We don't depend on him as a person to gain protection and to experience inner peace and contentment. It is his teachings that hold supreme. The Buddha advised us to practise his teachings, the Dhamma; and the Dhamma will protect us and give us peace and contentment. The main theme of the Dhamma is to avoid harming others, help everyone, and to purify the mind so that we can reduce our greed, hatred and delusion in life. We pay homage and reverence to the Buddha for showing us the Path to liberation from all the unsatisfactoriness of existence.

May this auspicious day bring you inner peace, contentment, and most important of all, good health.

How to stop smoking effectively

This post is dedicated to "bow", one of my few remaining regular readers.  I am assuming that he is a smoker as shown by his avatar.  I hope "bow" does not take offence to this post.  Otherwise I will lose a regular reader, and perhaps a scolding from him too! I mean well.

Smoking is an unhealthy habit.  It invites diseases to cause harm to your body, even death!  Why take the risk when you have better option?   If anyone is interested to read my article on "How to stop smoking effectively" please CLICKHERE:

There is still hope for cancer patient

[CT Chang at the Gerson Alternative Cancer Treatment Center in Mexico]

The word "CANCER" immediately brings shivers down your spine.  Nowadays cancer is so common.  It must be the negative changes in lifestyle and the environment.

I wish you will never need this, but this piece of information may help you save lives from those whom you may know who are suffering from cancer. The message is that there are other effective alternative cancer treatments available, although these are never supported by the Medical Organizations, some even being suppressed and outlawed, for reasons better known to themselves.
Below is the link to a blog written by a stage 4 kidney and lund cancer suvivor to help others as well. He was given only 6 months to live 2 years ago. I feel that those suffering from cancer should be given a chance to read his daily journal entries about his research in the internet and his personal experiences on how he is still alive today. Mr CT Chang is his name. He is indeed an amazing survivor.
