The humble papaya is so common here in Malaysia that we take it for granted. We all know a thing or two about the benefits of eating papaya. However it seems that papaya has powerful anti-cancer properties.
The most important substance is lycopene, a powerful antioxidant capable of killing cancer cells.
The orange pinkish color of papaya is due to the presence of carotenoids, notably beta carotene and lycopene. These are antioxidants and are effective cancer-fighting agents.
